The eXroid clockface assessment tool (ecat)TM: a new tool to assist in recording proctological examination
Assessing and documenting what is found on proctological assessment is not currently recorded in a standardised way in either primary or secondary care. Monitoring the progression of disease between clinic visits can therefore be challenging. To assist physicians caring for such patients, we have developed the eXroid Clockface Assessment Tool (eCAT)TM. This tool has proved to be useful in clinics that manage internal haemorrhoid disease (HD), a condition which is frequently associated with other problems affecting the perianal region, including external haemorrhoids, fissures, fistulas, polyps, different rashes, anal tags and even anal cancer on occasions.
We have recently published our data to show how this simple diagnostic tool has been successfully used in a clinic setting by the doctors to document observations made at each examination, providing invaluable insight into changes in conditions seen at and following each intervention carried out.
We have successfully had our abstract published at both the ESCP as a poster and the ACP as an abstract.
